About Olivia
I have 6 years of experience teaching piano and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology with a focus on Piano History. My lessons emphasize jazz piano improvisation, comping techniques, and building a sophisticated harmonic vocabulary. I believe in holistic development through jazz theory, ear training for complex chords, transcription, and rhythmic precision. I have guided students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels, as well as professional jazz musicians seeking refinement. I work with The Therapy Seeker and The Jazz Pianist to bring personal musical ideas to life. Students learn to experiment with chord progressions, rhythmic patterns, and expressive phrasing. Each session fosters creativity while teaching structured composition methods. I provide guidance on developing musical narratives and coherent pieces. Lessons include exercises in improvisation, motif development, and theme expansion. I encourage students to find their own style and voice. Each session strengthens musical intuition and confidence.
