About Blair
With more than 8 years of teaching experience and a BM in Jazz Vocal Performance, I offer personalized singing lessons for students at every level. I work with school students, college performers, and adult or professional singers. My specialty is musical theater and Broadway, where technical skill must support expressive storytelling. I help students develop character acting through song, guiding them to make clear and authentic choices. Stage presence and confidence are essential parts of my teaching. I place strong emphasis on belt technique, ensuring it is powerful yet safe. Vocal agility is another focus, preparing singers for quick changes in range, style, or emotion. My background in jazz supports strong ear training, harmony skills, improvisation, and music theory understanding. I believe these tools help singers feel more confident and independent. Every lesson is tailored to the individual voice and goals. I prioritize healthy technique and long-term vocal development. My teaching style is interactive, encouraging, and supportive. My teaching methodology centers on helping singers connect deeply with the meaning of their music. Singing is storytelling, and every lyric carries emotion, intention, and truth. I guide students through careful lyric interpretation so they understand the story behind the song. This allows emotional connection to grow naturally. We focus on storytelling through singing by shaping tone, timing, and phrasing. I encourage singers to think about who they are speaking to through the song. Audience connection is a key part of my approach. Technique is taught to support freedom and ease, not stiffness. I work especially well with expressive musical theater styles, including pieces similar to Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate myself to refining how singers move listeners emotionally. Lessons are interactive and supportive, allowing students to explore safely. I help singers build confidence in sharing emotion through their voice. Music theory, listening skills, and musical awareness are used when helpful, but always in simple ways. I meet students where they are and guide steady growth. My goal is clear communication and authentic expression. Singing becomes personal, powerful, and meaningful. Students leave lessons feeling connected to their voice and ready to perform with honesty.
