About Tessa
I have my Master's of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from UCLA and my Bachelor of Arts in History from Skidmore College. I have taught both entire classes and conducted private tutoring for over ten years. In 2009-2010, I lived in Germany on a Fulbright Grant to teach in a German High School. Since living in Los Angeles, I have tutored in English, History, and Writing.

I like to emphasize storytelling in all the subjects I teach. I find it makes students more receptive to subjects like History which some students find dry because it emphasized the exciting stories throughout history. In English and Writing, I help students find their voice by encouraging them to take the lead in crafting their writing while I help guide them. I believe students develop more confidence and interest when they aren't simply following assignments but helping create their own educational experience. With comedy, I find that it's best to get the students going performing right off the bat and then help them to craft jokes as they go.
