About Lukas
Hello!
My name is Mr. Wasserman, and I have recently completed my second year teaching 6th/7th grade math in Fort Worth ISD in the great state of Texas!
As someone who struggled with math once I got to 6th grade, I have a firsthand understanding of the challenges one can experience in math class. My goal is to not only help your student understand math, but I will also teach them tricks and tips so that they can feel confident and be good at math.
The majority of my students during my first two years of teaching could not do basic math skills such as multiplying, dividing, working with fractions, working with decimals etc. However, I tutored several of my students throughout the year, and every student that I tutored was able to master these skills by the end of the school year.
While my experience thus far is in a 6th/7th grade setting, I am also a confident that I can teach any math concept from K-8th grade. Since it is the summer time, I have lots of availability, and I hope that I can work with your student to help them become confident and good at math!

Anybody can be good at math once they understand how the math works. Rather than just teaching how to perform a mathematical skill, I focus on teaching why the math works, resulting in less memorization, more confidence, and real-world applicable skills.
My lessons are simple. I want to focus on what you already know, and how you can apply that knowledge to learn new mathematical concepts!
