About Layla

Hi everyone!

I am Layla, a recent Cambridge graduate and soon-to-be MPhil student.

Classics have been my passion since I can remember, and sharing it with others has been one of my greatest pleasures in these years of study. This is one main reason I turn to tutoring: it allows me to transmit not only the knowledge, but also the love that I have for this subject.

I am qualified to tutor not only because of my academic achievements, but also because I am a very patient and understanding person who genuinely loves to guide people through their potential difficulties and reach better results together with them. I believe improvement is always possible and, though not everyone will become a Classicist in the future, everyone can reach a good level with the right help.

The same goes for modern language learning: there are no bad students, just learners with different needs and methods. So, if you are thinking of giving Italian a try, or if you are a non-native English learner, you will find a competent yet understanding tutor in me!

About the lesson

If you are a student working on their GCSEs and A levels for Latin, Greek and Ancient Civilisation, look no further! Our lessons (usually an hour long, but other time slots can be discussed), will be tailored to your individual needs and learning interests/levels.

I like to keep things engaging, as these subjects are a true passion for me, but also efficient and professional. I have extended qualifications in Classics: I have studied them throughout high school in my home country and have recently graduated with a First Class mark at the University of Cambridge.

I also have experience in creating easy and fun activities to introduce the little ones (ages 5 to 10) to the world of Classics, so if you are thinking about starting early, I could be the right match for you!

I will provide material from very reputable grammar books that I have used throughout my studies, but the lessons themselves will be constructed around your school's programme and your personal interests.

I have extensive experience in essay writing, with more than satisfactory results, and I will be ready to help and guide you in building and strengthening your writing skills.

The lessons will be online, unless you are based in the Cambridge area.
