About James
I am currently a college student studying to become a Spanish teacher with seven years of Spanish classes under my belt. Over the course of those years, I have learned so much and have had the opportunity to study under many wonderful Spanish teachers and professors.
Over the last three years, I have taken about thirty online courses, so I am no stranger to the online classroom. It'll be a professional, distraction-free environment, and we will be able to use a number of different websites to supplement our time on video calls. That way, you will be able to get exactly what you want out of our time with the language.
Back in eighth grade, I took my first Spanish class, and I was sure that it wasn't for me. By the time I got to Spanish three, I encountered an amazing Spanish teacher who helped me fall in love with the language, and that class was followed by a trip to Mexico and another fantastic instructor. Those couple of years in the middle of high school changed everything for me, and those two teachers had such a lasting impact on me. My goal is to follow in their footsteps and be the Spanish instructor for you that walks you through the language but also helps you fall in love with it even just a little bit.

I am super excited to get to engage Spanish with you guys! We will start with assessing where you are at with the language and finding out what you would like to get from our time working together. Then we'll get into all of the wonderful parts of the language like grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary as we read, write, listen, and of course converse with one another!
Your desire for our time will dictate how we move through the material. If you just want time set aside for talking in Spanish with someone, we can do that. If you have no experience with the language and are wanting to begin learning it, we can do that. If you want to focus on one part of the language, we can do that. I am flexible and just want to share my passion for the language with people who want to learn!

When I reached out to James about helping me learn Spanish, he followed up with such enthusiasm right off the bat. I never took Spanish in high school, so he has been working with me from the ground level! James manages a great balance of finding out what I'm interested in / contexts in which I am hoping to use the language soon, and also guiding our study sessions from his experience with the best foundational blocks for learning Spanish. He has been great with putting together quizlets, music recommendations, and any new ideas we realize might be helpful. It has been a blast, and I always feel so encouraged. 10/10 recommend !
