About Iman

Hi!

My name is Iman and I am a senior at UC Berkeley (Go Bears!) studying Film and Media on my way to becoming an entertainment lawyer. I have a passion for writing and have been writing stories for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on a few short stories and screenplays.

I have worked as a tutor for a few years with students of all ages. I love tutoring because watching a student improve academically over time is so rewarding. Many times students' learning strategies fail them resulting in poor academic performance. It is important to me that those students realize that it is not them as people who are failing, but learning strategies that are failing them. This helps instill confidence and desire to learn and improve. It also sweeps away the crippling self-doubt many students become accustomed to when feeling like they are underperforming.

About the lesson

I have worked with students from elementary school to community college. My teaching approach varies by student and what works best for each student's learning style. Every student and every age is different, but learning how to write well is a skill that lasts a lifetime.

For essay writing and editing (middle school to community college):
