About Justin
Teaching is my vocation and I take great pride in having a pedagogy that centers the student. Too often I hear about bad experiences where students' ideas, perspectives, and intelligence have either been neglected or dismissed. I've built my teaching style in direct position to that: your voice and thoughts matter the most to me; and it is my duty to listen to you, and to help clarify and push your ideas further.

I teach/tutor by asking open-ended questions rather than lecturing. This makes palpable to the student that writing, reading, and critical thinking are rigorous and dynamic processes where their voice and ideas can flourish--and not my own perspective.
This student centered pedagogy, which employs the Socratic method, has been sharpened during my 6 years as a reading and writing tutor and has been successfully implemented in my 1 year of teaching English at a community college. Since I am currently teaching, I have a unique insight into the standards of college level writing across multiple subjects.
I can tutor for any kind of reading and writing for students from the 6th grade all the way to college. My experience as a tutor and teacher has made me very flexible and open.
