About Kalpana
I moved to the UK over 25 years ago where I spoke Tamil growing up, and learnt English so I know how hard learning another language can be! Now I am qualified to teach my mother tongue, and wish to convey this further. I love working as a teacher at the local Tamil community school, and I want to share the beauty of the Tamil language with the next generation. For those unable to attend the local Tamil school, online tutoring is a necessity!

I am a teacher at the weekly Tamil school local to me, and I have a Diploma in Teaching Tamil. I am studying a BA Tamil. A typical lesson is 1 hour, and I currently teach online only. I have experience with teaching, and I am able to help students studying from Kindergarten all the way to Year 10 with the appropriate textbooks. I aim to encourage speaking in Tamil in lessons by helping students understand translations, and everyday words. I customise my lessons based on a student's age, goals and current understanding, so that we can grow together. I am happy to provide small homework such as using a certain phrase, or researching Tamil culture to engage the student throughout the week.
