About Daniel

I have over 20 years experience in playing and studying the guitar and I have been a performer and a singer/songwriter for 10 of those years.

I have a deep connection to music; and as a professional musician, I feel lucky to be able to share this with people and get paid for something I love doing. This love extends to teaching others and passing on my skills and knowledge as a guitarist and musician to my students. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and seeing the growth in their ability to play the guitar and inevitably become better musicians.

I am a passionate and dedicated teacher, and my hope is to inspire people that I teach guitar to; to become not only better guitarists; but also greater all-round musicians. My aim is to instil in people that no matter what their goals are as guitarists; they are all possible when consistent practice, routine and self-belief is applied.

About the lesson

My main technique to teaching guitar is identifying the student's passion and love for the instrument; first and foremost, and what they want to get out of learning the instrument; i.e. why do they want to learn; is it to play around the campfire, get better as a guitar player in a band, enhance their songwriting, develop their ear; just to name a few reasons but the list goes on; and we identify what these goals are from lesson one.

I instil in students, a love for learning even in the face of the challenges they will invariably face as they navigate the evolving complexity of the instrument; which will happen as they naturally become better guitarists. I do this by applying theory from an early point; as it can be helpful to know why and how notes fit together, and how as guitar players, we can draw from this wealth of knowledge and understanding, to create our own unique approach to learning and playing. Showing people this 'roadmap' I believe is very important and immensely helpful in mastering the guitar.

I also like to set tasks each week for the student to work on; and provide a practical approach to consistently working on the fundamentals of guitar playing, such as picking technique, rhythm, learning the fretboard (to name a few).

I am currently a mobile teacher which means I travel to student's place of residence and have been doing this for around 12 months. The length of the lessons I offer are either 30 or 60 minutes long. I cater to all levels (beginner to advanced) and ages (6 and up); and can teach in a range of styles depending on the needs of the student.
