About Emily

My name is Emily and I have been playing piano since age 5, where I was brought up in a strict Russian music school; while that school was productive for my learning, I felt myself become very discouraged through the teaching style. I aim to provide a safe and enjoyable learning environment for my students, with my goal being one thing: to make them love piano as much as I do!

About the lesson

I prioritize my teaching on helping my students understand the foundations of piano, such as sight-reading, dynamics and tempo. For more advanced students, we practice on adding musicality and flow to the song as well as strengthening your repertoire so you can be a well-rounded pianist.

A typical lesson with me starts off with introductions: I want to know what kind of student I am working with so I can tailor my teaching style to their personality! After that, we work on scales, chords, and arpeggios to warm up their fingers and focus our attention on 1-2 songs that lesson. I am very upbeat and will never put you down--piano is a fun learning experience for everyone!

Though I am only a sophomore in high school, I am able to do both online and in-person classes through my business. I have performed at Lincoln Center and won super-bronze through the Golden Key Music Festival international competition with 50+ countries participating. I have years of experience and dedicated love to this instrument.

I teach the basics through intermediate levels of piano for everyone of all ages! (Please note that if you are 18+ years of age, an online lesson will be scheduled in lieu of an in-person lesson for my safety.)
