About Lydia
I have been working in the Public Relations and Marketing field since 2019. Before that, I graduated with my B.A. in Communications and Creative Writing. As a student, I was the Managing Editor for our campus newspaper, board member for several student clubs, and worked for the university Communications office writing blogs and website articles for our website. I took several high-level writing courses during university including: Screenwriting I & II, advanced English epic poetry, advanced creative writing, Journalism, and Film History I & II. I am an award-winning screenwriter for a short film, and have contributed articles and blog posts for several publications, websites, and organizations. In my professional career, I have written blogs, articles, newsletters, media alerts, press releases, commercial ads, video scripts, legislative documents, infographics, PowerPoints, and social media captions for over 5 years. I have both theater and film backgrounds, from high school, all the way through university, to current community projects that complement my writing skills and literary experience to provide a well-rounded and refined academic knowledge that draws from several sources. I read profusely, averaging 125 books a year, mostly historical fiction but also including many non-fiction books including biographies, art or historical topics, and current digital media issues. I have taken several leadership and professional development courses, and am a trained instructor for several topics for Supervisor and Manager Leadership Academies. I am a certified Real Colors instructor and have taught several classes over the past 2 years of students ranging from Supervisors to CEO. I love encouraging students to write, grow their knowledge, and hone their skills. I have had several incredible teachers, coaches, and mentors who shared their expertise with me, and I want to pass those on to others. Everyone can write! We just need someone who believes in us.

I enjoy proofreading and reviewing lessons, papers, blogs, or other related content. I tutor students from their first idea or assignment to the final draft. My method is simple, I encourage students to write their first draft on their own, after talking through ideas and concepts if they find that helpful. Then after reviewing, I walk students through each edit, offering up suggestions, asking clarifying questions, and coaching them to critically think and eventually get them to train their minds to discover correct solutions and answers on their own! Writing is something we can all do, sometimes we just need a good coach to help us find our writing voice and hone our skills!
