About Blake
I’m Blake, a US-based SAT and ACT specialist with over 20 years’ tutoring experience. I scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT and achieved a perfect ACT score myself. My students have earned perfect scores in each SAT section and on the ACT, with SAT improvements of up to 320 points.
I work with students aiming for US universities, helping them turn ambitious score goals into clear, manageable steps. My approach is patient, direct and practical: I explain why a method works, check that you can use it independently, and help you build confidence through demonstrated progress.
I closely follow developments in both tests and continually refine my teaching to reflect current question styles, techniques and strategies. I offer online tuition for UK students, with sessions arranged around UK schedules.

My lessons are built around what you can actually do, rather than what you feel you understand. We identify the knowledge and techniques you need, work through them together, and then check that you can apply them independently to unfamiliar questions. Understanding an explanation is the starting point; solving the next question yourself is the goal.
We regularly revisit what you have learnt through targeted review and mixed practice. This helps you retain it, recognise when to use it, and apply it accurately under timed conditions—not simply revise it once and forget it.
I closely follow changes to both the SAT and ACT, including their content, question styles and format. I keep my teaching current with the latest techniques and strategies, so you prepare for the test you will actually sit. We practise choosing the most effective approach to each question, including when a calculator can save time and when another method is quicker.
Your answers guide what we work on next, keeping lessons focused on the improvements that matter most to your score.
