About Manuel

I am from the Caribbean coast of Colombia and have been teaching for over 11 years. I have experience with a wide variety of ages and demographics, having worked with displaced and at-risk youth for many years. My partner is from the United States, and, out of a shared love for cultural education, we co-founded an oral history museum in my hometown. We both love sharing history and culture with our visitors from all over the world.

In Colombia, I studied teaching and public administration, and have always been extremely active in community development. More recently, I have relocated to the United States where I have worked an an international high school teaching International Baccalaureate Spanish.

I enjoy hiking, cooking, travelling, and, of course, teaching!

My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering communication and confidence in my students, believing that these are the cornerstones of language learning.

Drawing from my experience as founding director of an oral history museum in my hometown, I offer unique insights into the cultural nuances that enrich the Spanish language.
