About Raquel
Hi! I’m Raki, culinary educator, and founder of La Culpa es del Coulant, a bilingual platform that celebrates African and Afro-descendant cuisine. With nearly 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry and formal training in Culinary and Restaurant Management, I bring both professional skill and cultural passion to every class. My mission is to inspire people through food. I don’t just teach recipes, I share stories, context, and culinary techniques that help students truly connect with what they’re creating. Whether you're a beginner or a passionate home cook, you'll find my classes warm, engaging, and full of flavour. I’ve taught cooking classes to people of all ages and backgrounds, both online and in person, always focusing on making the experience accessible, educational, and enjoyable. My approach to teaching is both hands-on and culturally enriching. I combine step-by-step guidance with storytelling, helping students not only learn techniques but also understand the cultural context and nutritional value behind each dish, especially within African and Afro-fusion cuisine. My classes are highly interactive and can be taught in English or Spanish, making them perfect for students who also want to practise a new language in a relaxed, creative setting. Each lesson typically lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the recipe and the student's pace. We begin with a brief presentation on the ingredients and their significance, followed by live cooking and space for questions and conversation. My classes are suitable for all levels and ages, from beginners curious about African cuisine, to food lovers, home cooks, or anyone looking for a creative, delicious way to connect with culture.
