About Helen

As a native Korean speaker and global traveler, I’ve spent years helping students find their own voice... in this beautiful language. Hi! I’m currently based in Canada, but my life has been a journey through many different borders. Having learned to live, work, and dream in English, French, German, and, of course, in Korean, I’ve realized that language is a bridge to people, not just a subject to study. Beyond tutoring, I work as a community interpreter and a travel advisor, helping people navigate complex cultural gaps in real-time. I’m also a food lover and a sourdough baker who believes that language, much like a good recipe, takes the right ingredients, a lot of patience, and a bit of heart.

About the lesson

I think of our lessons like a new adventure, and since every traveler has a different destination, I build a custom map just for you. We don’t use a boring "one-size-fits-all" plan here. Before we even start, we’ll chat about what you love, whether it’s your favorite K-drama, games, travel, or just wanting to sound like a local. If there is a specific topic you're curious about, we’ll dive into it together. This class is designed to fit your rhythm and your style.

I use a variety of engaging materials to keep our sessions fresh and exciting. We will use everything from video clips, and textbooks to practicing your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. If you have a favorite book you're already using, you are more than welcome to bring it along! Since I’ve mastered four languages myself, I can show you the best shortcuts to help you stop overthinking and start speaking naturally by understanding how Korean speakers really express themselves.

In our sessions, you’ll be the one doing most of the talking! I want you to speak as much as possible because that is the best way to grow your confidence. I love creating a space where it’s totally okay to make mistakes. That’s actually how we learn the fastest! I promise to keep things fun, encouraging, and full of energy. As an interpreter and a travel advisor, I’ll share the little cultural secrets and etiquette tips that you won’t find on Instagram or in school books. We’ll reach your goals faster by having a great time along the way!
