About Daya
I have spent sixteen years nurturing the scientific development of more than 550 biology students. My academic credentials include a doctoral degree in molecular genetics and postdoctoral research in neuroscience, giving me firsthand experience of scientific discovery at the highest level. I have taught in research universities, selective independent schools, and international academies, developing expertise across multiple national curricula. My students have entered medical school, doctoral programs, biotechnology companies, and conservation organizations around the world. I am particularly skilled at mentoring students through extended essay projects, independent research, and science fair competitions. I maintain active collaborations with research scientists and regularly invite guest speakers to share cutting-edge developments with my students. My teaching has been recognized with several awards for innovation and student outcomes. Outside the classroom, I serve on the board of a science education charity and conduct field research in tropical ecology during summer breaks. I believe that biology education should prepare students not just for examinations but for informed participation in a world where biological knowledge increasingly shapes ethical, legal, and personal decisions.

My sixteen years of biology teaching have convinced me that the subject is best learned through inquiry investigation and connection to contemporary issues. I structure my curriculum around big questions that spark curiosity such as how life maintains order what causes disease and how species adapt to changing environments. For biotechnology I teach students to understand the molecular techniques that underpin genetic engineering sequencing and synthetic biology through case studies and virtual lab experiences. Neuroscience is explored through interactive models of neural networks discussions of cognitive science research and connections to mental health and behavior. Advanced genetics is taught through population genetics simulations pedigree analysis and exploration of epigenetic phenomena. I emphasize the nature of science teaching students to distinguish between observation inference and theory and to evaluate scientific claims using evidence. My lessons incorporate extensive use of primary literature data analysis and scientific communication skills. For exam preparation I focus on the precise use of terminology the construction of logical arguments and the application of knowledge to unfamiliar scenarios. I also guide students in developing independent research projects that deepen their engagement with biological inquiry.
