About Maria

With a Doctorate of Musical Arts and over a decade of experience as a professional musician, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my teaching. My journey in music has been marked by diverse performance opportunities and a deep commitment to the craft, which has shaped my approach to both playing and teaching. This extensive background allows me to offer insights that go beyond technique, helping students understand the nuances of musical expression and performance.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. I believe that every student has unique strengths and areas for growth, and my goal is to tailor lessons to each individual’s needs and aspirations. Whether you’re a young child just beginning your musical journey or an adult returning to an old passion, I strive to make each lesson both educational and enjoyable.

In addition to private lessons, I have experience working with various ensembles and have been involved in numerous musical projects that enrich my teaching practice. This experience allows me to provide students with a well-rounded musical education that includes not just technical skills, but also an appreciation for collaborative music-making and performance.

Outside of teaching, I am passionate about continuing my own musical development and staying connected with the broader music community. This commitment to lifelong learning ensures that I bring fresh perspectives and current practices into my teaching, providing students with a dynamic and relevant music education.

About the lesson

Private music lessons provide a personalized approach to learning the Violin, Viola, and Cello, tailored to each student's skill level and goals. Whether you are a beginner just starting out or an advanced player seeking to refine your technique, lessons are designed to meet your individual needs. Through one-on-one instruction, students receive focused guidance that helps them develop their musical abilities more effectively than in group settings.

In lessons, we cover various aspects of technique, including posture, finger placement, and bowing techniques, as well as music theory and ear training. The curriculum is adaptable, allowing students to explore different styles and genres of music based on their interests. Emphasis is placed on building a strong foundation, which is crucial for long-term progress and enjoyment of playing.

For younger students, lessons often include interactive and engaging methods to make learning enjoyable and effective. This might involve incorporating games, visual aids, and age-appropriate repertoire to maintain their interest and enthusiasm. For adult learners, lessons focus on achieving personal goals, whether that’s mastering a particular piece, preparing for a performance, or simply enjoying the process of learning and playing music.

Overall, private lessons aim to foster a deep appreciation for music while developing technical skills and artistic expression. Each session is crafted to support the student’s growth and confidence, providing a rewarding and enriching musical experience.
