About Declan

I have recently achieved a PhD in Politics at The University of Leeds. My research focuses on matters of global justice and structural injustice.

I offer one-on-one tutoring as well as providing detailed comments on essay plans, essays, as well as dissertation drafts at both UG and MA levels. I can also help with MA applications.

I have over three years of teaching experience. This includes A-level politics tuition, 3 years of experience teaching Politics and Sociology at Undergraduate level, as well as providing a guest lecture to Masters students both at the University of Leeds.

This gives me firsthand experience in preparing students for the university as well as teaching and marking students' work once they are at university. I, therefore, have invaluable experience both in preparing A-level Politics students to understand what is expected of them to get the grades to get into your first choice, as well as being able to guide and tutor students through their higher education journey.

When we get a bad essay mark it often leaves a bad taste in our mouth and can often mean we can resent a course that we otherwise enjoyed. Better understanding exactly what is required of us to succeed and what it is we are being asked is vital to succeeding in essay-writing subjects in order to achieve the grade you deserve. I can guide you through this process and help you improve your grade exponentially.

Outside my academic absorptions, I enjoy cycling and playing football. I am currently learning Spanish in my spare time.

About the lesson

I offer a relaxed and personable online classroom environment with the aim of helping the student understand what is expected of them. I do not like to bombard students with information, but to meet them where they are at to understand how they can best improve.

Perhaps you enjoy your lessons or lectures and seminars, you enjoy the course content and the class/seminar debates, but your enthusiasm for the course does not translate into the mark you wanted. Perhaps you often get comments that your essays are "too descriptive", "too balanced", and/or "too broad". Or perhaps you struggle with researching for essays, translating information into a coherent argument, keeping it focussed, and for university students, referencing consistently. Whatever it is, I can help improve your A-level and UG essay and/or dissertation marks exponentially.

We can work together in a relaxed environment to better understand where you are going wrong. Sometimes, only a simple change in approach can exponentially improve your grades.
