About Ivica
I am a full professor of double bass at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, with more than 20 years of experience as a principal bassist in both symphony and opera orchestras. Throughout my career, I have performed as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe, collaborating with distinguished artists and ensembles. Many of my former students now perform in leading orchestras or teach at respected institutions worldwide. I take pride not only in their success, but also in helping each individual develop a personal, expressive, and technically solid voice on the double bass. As a teacher, I combine tradition with innovation — I stay actively engaged with emerging performance trends and techniques and believe that the learning process should be both rigorous and inspiring. I approach every student with respect, attention, and a genuine desire to help them grow. Whether you're preparing for a professional audition, building your technique, or simply rediscovering your love for the instrument — I’m here to support you with experience, patience, and enthusiasm.

As a full professor of double bass with over 20 years of orchestral and soloist experience, I offer personalized online lessons tailored to each student’s physicality, experience, and artistic goals. My teaching focuses on developing natural technique, musicality, and confidence through a method that adapts to your individual strengths.
I specialize in solving right-hand technical challenges — particularly for French bow — while also teaching German bow with equal depth. I integrate insights from both classical traditions and modern players, drawing from the pedagogical innovations of Rabbath, Bille, and Streicher, while also exploring the musical impact of contemporary virtuosi like Dominik Wagner, Xavier Foley, and Mikyung Sung.
A typical lesson may include warm-ups tailored to your hand and posture, focused technical work (often with custom exercises), orchestral excerpts or solo repertoire, and musical phrasing. I always encourage discussion and questions — every lesson is interactive and responsive to the student's needs.
