About Adam

Hello! I’m Adam, an English Literature and Language Graduate from the University of Oxford. I graduated in 2023 with a double first and have been, for more than three years, tutoring English across all levels and ages. Last year I was employed as a teaching assistant at Clifton College – a top ranking independent school in the country – leading English lessons from KS1 in the primary school up to A-Level in the sixth form. In particular, I ran a specialised clinic for students struggling with their A-Level Literature coursework and another for dyslexic students in the primary school, aiding the development of their reading and writing skills. I am hugely passionate about tutoring and about my subject. Sharing what it is about my subject that is so exciting is the best part of my job. Beyond imparting the necessary skills to help students excel in the subject, I aim to instil a long-lasting sense of wonder about English, as a language, as an art, and as a culture!

About the lesson

For me, tutoring is all about helping a student strive towards the goals and aspirations which they set for themselves. This may be a high grade in an upcoming English GCSE exam, an offer from a top university, or to improve their confidence in creative writing. My lessons are prepared individually for each student to fit their own learning style and interests. They adapt on the fly, to meet the specific tasks of the lesson, as well as to make learning a fun, ever-changing experience. I teach KS1 up to undergraduate level and am familiar with all the main A-Level, GCSE, and IGCSE boards, particularly Cambridge and OCR. I have extensive experience tutoring students in preparation for their GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language exams as well as assisting in the planning, writing, and proof-reading of coursework. I also run classes tutoring students aiming to study English Literature and Language at Oxbridge. This includes coaching students on how to write an effective personal statement, how to prepare for and excel in the admission test, as well as providing interview practice.
