Why did Socrates choose to father auto-didacticism? Why did Plato believe in his Theory of Recollection?
They believed it was the best way for the student to learn; I feel the same toward discussion-based reading and literature analysis. I encourage questions at any stage of the process, as I believe what is more important than discussing what one knows is discussing what one doesn't.
I wish to saunter with the student from a state of confusion to that of articulation, and I plan to do so using clarifying questions and a colloquial discussion of the text at-hand. I intend on treating the literature as a conversation between the author and the student, where I am merely the clarifying mediator between the two.
