About Layla

I’m a fifth year student at UNSW studying a Bachelor of Economics /Advanced Science (Biotechnology/Genetics major). I’ve been tutoring Maths, English and Science for the past 6 years. I also have work experience across finance internships from public equity research to private equity.

I’ve had students who are in year 3, students who are in university, those with learning difficulties (largely dyslexia and/or diagnosed ADHD), everyone in between, and have genuinely enjoyed every minute.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing/watching basketball, running, and reading.

About the lesson

My lesson structures are dependent on your goals as the student; would you like to move ahead, or just keep up with class content? Either way, the first couple of lessons are spent gauging where some extra support is needed, with subsequent lessons split between topical questions you might have from class, and working on ensuring any gaps in fundamental knowledge is filled.
Usually, lessons will last for one hour, but I am quite flexible, and can increase lesson time/frequency if you need extra help or have an upcoming test.

Layla tutored me in Maths for university for the last year, and was super helpful. I'd definitley recommend her, as she patiently explains everything in a lot of detail, and really makes sure you understand something before moving on.

Layla tutored me for 3 years in Maths and English and was consistently helpful and patient throughout. It was especially great when I would send her questions outside of lessons and she was still happy to provide support. Her assignment reviews for English improved my marks not just for the individual assessment but actually really helped my writing independently, as well. I would highly recommend her.

Layla is fantastic, a great communicator and teacher. Good teachers inspire students and Layla has demonstrated that. She helped tutor my sister in English and maths. My sister was very comfortable with her which I feel is important and all credit to Layla’s approach with her students. She has had a positive influence on her students overall, with my sister now having her future studies in focus and planning for it.
