One of our best tutors. Quality profile, experience in their field, verified qualifications and a great response time. Gian Lorenzo will be happy to arrange your first Statistics lesson.

About Gian Lorenzo

I have a wealth of experience tutoring and practicing Econometrics. I have helped both undergraduates who just started out, mature students with gaps in their mathematical and statistical skills, and PhDs at prestigious institution such as Oxford and MIT.

I am very warm, relaxed and non-judgmental, always happy to meet my students wherever they are starting from.

I am quite skilled at finding out the precise conceptual difficulty students face and address it.

My students have a 100% pass rate.

I hold a BSc and MSc in Economics as well as a PhD in Mathematics and I have taught Econometrics and Statistics classes for University of Warwick and University of Bristol and I part-time as Study Skills tutor at Bristol university.

About the lesson

Econometrics is a difficult subjects because it is often presented in heavily mathematical terms but exercises are then quite hand-on application of statistics.

I have a balanced approach covering exercises and examples while providing simplified picture and conceptual help to understand the theory and the logic behind every concept.

Together we decide wether to go over lessons, problem sheets, past papers or ad-hoc exercises and lesson.

I also provide tailored lesson plans for specific goals, mature students or students who are starting again after a gap year.

I teach all levels from undergraduate to PhD and all standard topics in Econometrics degree classes, including but not limited to:

- OLS
- Maximum Likelihood
- Logistic regression
- Instrumental Variables
- Potential outcome frameworks
- DiD and Regression Discontinuity
- Hypothesis Testing
- R, STATA

Perfect! Working with Gian during my semester in applied econometrics was incredibly valuable and his tutelage was instrumental in my success. He made complex ideas easy to understand and I’m now at a point where I would consider further study in the field of econometrics. I couldn’t recommend Gian enough!

Gian Lorenzo has been tutoring me for 2 years full time, and I couldn't be happier. He is extremely resourceful and well prepared both in Maths and Economics; he has been able to tutor me in Game Theory, Microeconomics, Macro-economics, Econometrics, and Finance, both at the graduate and undergraduate level. He has been flexible and patient; focussed but warm; a teacher and a great friend throughout these two years. He has helped me obtain all the results I wanted.

I could not recommend Gian Lorenzo more.

I had the pleasure to work with Gian during his PhD at Warwick University closely. His passion and dedication to teaching are second only to his ability and skills to do it. He is really capable of explaining clearly even the most complex argument making the life of the student very easy. Finally, it completes the package his patience and deep understanding of the subject. I highly recommend Gian as Tutor.

I have received tuition from Gian in writing an undergraduate dissertation. He sets high expectations for the pupil and then provides the support needed to excel. Gian provided me guidance in my overall thesis. He also gave me insights into the particular quantitative methods required to complete the dissertation. His help in the econometric aspect of the research project not only helped me get a result which I was pleased with, but also consolidated my knowledge and understanding of econometric techniques. He was also very supportive in the essay writing aspects of the dissertation and in my other final year modules. Gian has in-depth knowledge of economics and econometrics. I felt like I received both tutoring and mentoring by Gian, I can only recommend.
