I've known Makhaya for over 20 years. My first encounter with him was when he was a principal of a High School in Alice. His school was one of those well-managed schools. He later became a Curriculum Advisor, working with teachers and guiding them when the new curriculum was introduced. He is a very patient person who seldom becomes angry with teachers he worked with. Later, he became a Psychologist in one of the homes looking after learners with behavioural problems. He did his work diligently and with utmost care. He spent some years in this home until he moved back to Eastern Cape. In Eastern Cape, he was employed by the department in Integrated Quality Management System. This section was used as a tool to evaluate all teachers including principals of the school. He was directly involved in the evaluation of principals. He would score each principal, discuss the score with the principal concerned, and then make recommendations for improvement. Recently I worked with him in the training of SMTs and SGBs on Comprehensive Sexuality Education. He was really concise in his presentation. I recommend Makhaya because of his diligence and trustworthiness in whatever he's doing.
