About Akash
My background has been humble, and I genuinely love coaching people. I was born and raised in a family where we prioritised learning the Queen's English, otherwise known as Received Pronunciation. Watching the British Broadcasting Corporation come on the television every morning at 7am as a child, I quickly reaped the benefits of being able to speak, think and react in English despite being multilingual, in a country where English was not the only national language.
"Proper" English is subjective; because we only need to master the basics, to present ourselves effectively. Writing a speech with complex vocabulary or mentioning it in interviews inconsistently will only get you so far, if it is determined that is not who you truly are. I took time to build my strong foundation in spoken, written English - now I want to help make sure others do, too.

Depending on the need. If it's preparing for your test, or improving general literacy or gaining confidence to present yourself in a make-or-break job interview - my teaching approach will differ slightly. Being multi-lingual myself, I get the frustration of thinking in a language other than English, and being expected to be fluent in it is difficult.
I believe wholeheartedly in a aim, input, process and output approach (AIPO).
Aim: Setting your sights on what you want to achieve (test results, or impressing someone in a specific field). What do you want to achieve, or what issue do you want to resolve?
Input + processing: What tools do we use? Face-to-face conversations to boost confidence, time-based assessments to beat the clock, or good old pen and paper? Figuring out what WE need to do and putting it to work. More practice papers, or practising how to put thoughts down in English through conversation, etc.
Output: This has to be measurable. Using a standardised test that can be custom-built to the student, or as determined by the student themselves (e.g IELTS, or an essay competition, or debate tournament). We will use this to determine if we are getting better, stagnant, or have room for improvement.
