She remembers what it felt like to doubt herself and how much it meant when someone believed in her. Now, she’s THAT someone for her students — helping people of all ages unlock their voice, build confidence, and enjoy music on their own terms.

Katy’s Approach
Katy’s lessons are all about you — your goals, your pace, your style. Whether you want to:

Classically trained, Katy also teaches a wide range of styles: swing, folk, musical theatre, easy listening, pop, and more — with plenty of encouragement, variety, and creative tools to keep things fun and achievable.

What to Expect
Each 45-minute lesson (in person or online) starts with gentle, personalised warm-ups to strengthen technique and ease nerves. Then, you’ll work through music that excites and motivates you, accompanied by piano or backing tracks.

After each session, Katy gives simple, practical guidance to help you improve between lessons — and she’s available for encouragement or questions during the week, too.

Singing: Beginner to diploma level

Piano: Beginner to intermediate

Violin: Beginner to intermediate

About Katy
Katy Simpson is a trained concert singer with a Master's from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She’s led choirs, adapted operas for schools, and taught hundreds of students aged 4 to 94. A vintage vocalist and violinist in her spare time, she performs 1940s classics at retro events, on stage, and in care homes. Her joy comes from helping others grow in musical confidence and discover the joy of singing or playing — whatever their starting point.

About the lesson

Whatever your goals, Katy will help you reach your musical potential with clear steps.

Working with the time you have available during the week to practise, she will help you to find and conquer your stumbling blocks and always inspire you with a wide variety of musical styles, exercises and inspiration from other performers.

Lessons are three quarters of an hour to an hour long, depending on the student's level of skill, and take place online. They start with fun, exhilarating warm-up exercises, appropriate to ability and needs, to strengthen technique and limber them up.

We then work together on a variety of pieces according to the student's goals, whilst Katy accompanies on piano or backing tracks where appropriate.

Lastly, is a relaxing cool down and students are given simple, clear homework notes to work on at home before student and teacher both meet again.

Contact can also be made midweek for questions, encouragement or inspiration.
