About Jelani

With 5 years of professional teaching experience, I am a dedicated Saxophone tutor who has guided nearly 150 students through different stages of learning. I strongly believe that student comfort plays a major role in musical growth.

My teaching style is comfortable, friendly, and confidence-focused. I create a relaxed learning environment where students feel free to ask questions and make mistakes. Lessons focus on breath control, tone quality, finger technique, rhythm accuracy, and musical expression.

I adapt lessons based on individual learning styles and goals. I also provide clear practice guidance to help students improve outside lesson time.

What makes my teaching unique is my ability to build confidence in hesitant learners. My aim is to help students feel relaxed, motivated, and proud of their progress on the saxophone.

About the lesson

I teach saxophone using a methodology centred on flexibility, collaboration, and positivity. Each student has a unique approach to learning, so I tailor lessons to their learning style, pace, and goals using demonstration, listening exercises, and hands-on practice.

Flexibility allows me to adjust lessons according to student progress, interests, and motivation, ensuring that learning is effective and inspiring. Collaboration encourages students to participate actively, experiment with improvisation, and share musical ideas, fostering both technical skill and creativity.

I create a positive, supportive environment where achievements are celebrated and mistakes are embraced as opportunities for growth. Lessons include saxophone techniques, musical expression, improvisation, performance skills, and music theory, providing a complete and well-rounded musical education.

In addition to saxophone, I teach sight-reading, ensemble performance, ear training, and music theory. My goal is to cultivate confident, expressive musicians with a lifelong love for music.
