About Olivia
I am a violin tutor with more than 3 years of experience in traditional and folk performance. I hold an Associate of Music in String Performance (Violin), grounding my work in strong fundamentals. My passion is Nordic fiddle and Klezmer traditions.
I teach Norwegian and Swedish fiddle styles that rely on rhythmic bowing and ornamentation. Klezmer brings expressive nuance to our lessons. Ornamentation is broken down into clear steps. Bowing patterns are practised to develop steady groove.
Much of my teaching is ear-based. Students listen carefully and imitate melodies. Folk jam tracks build confidence and flow. Drone tuners improve pitch accuracy. Repertoire-based instruction ensures steady progress.

My approach combines structure with practical application. Strong reading skills are the foundation of strong violin playing. We build them step by step.
Students practise visual recognition drills that improve finger accuracy. Ledger lines and shifting patterns are reinforced weekly. Complex rhythms are simplified into clear counting systems. Multi-part scores develop ensemble awareness and timing. Reading becomes smooth and reliable.
Musical theatre students gain confidence handling detailed scores quickly. Worship musicians improve harmony reading and steady support for singers. Short exercises keep progress consistent. Improvement becomes visible.
You will soon read music with speed and clarity. New repertoire will feel within reach.
