About Jessica
I have a degree in English and tutored high school-aged students in college. Subject matter varied from literacy, comprehension, and grammar to literary analysis, close reading, and essay-writing. My ultimate goal is to teach English at the secondary level, but right now I am aiming to address the literacy crisis in public education, even in just a small way by tutoring.

My teaching approach is very fluid and adaptable. I like to take a self-directed approach with my students, having them articulate a clear educational or academic goal and their vision of the best way to go about tackling that goal. I work with a lot of feedback from students and develop a learning plan and strategy that differ widely from individual to individual. Everyone learns differently and tutoring allows space for tailoring learning experiences to each student.
