About India
Hi I’m India and I am in my second year of studying a Bsocsci majoring in Politics and English Literature at the University of Cape Town.
I was on the Dean's Merit List 2023 and I graduated from an IEB school with an A aggregate, achieving 5 distinctions (including the subjects I tutor in). I was a top 15 finalists of the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship and participated in many public speaking events such as the International Kids Conference held by Oxford and Melbourne University discussing Combatting Human Trafficking.
I personally grew to love essay related subjects as they stimulated critical thinking in a different manner to STEM related subjects. One is allowed to be different and articulate thought that is not pure regurgitation through these subjects. It is unfortunate to learn that this practice of authenticity isn’t apparent in most schools.
Through tutoring I would love to create the space for scholars to be themselves and learn how to formally articulate their nuanced thought! I hope to be a safe space for every student as growth cannot be achieved without a safe and comfortable environment for all!

Lessons are to serve the learner in a manner in which I prioritise understanding concepts and skills needed rather than parot learning. As such we will go through methods in which they can continuously use to approach each topic instead of cramming. Lessons will be informal and relaxed, prioritising comfort and mutual respect so that there is no added anxiety regarding the subject nor lessons, that way students can confidently come with problem areas. Lessons will either be structured by what the learner is struggling with and/or additional exercises to stimulate their critical thinking skills.
I aim for my students to have a safe space in which they know its okay to make mistakes and that they are needed for growth, all I ask is they do their best.
