About Shauna
Exams are a terrifying thing for almost everyone. We all know stories about people who've panicked and performed poorly as a result of the pressure and stress associated with exam season, and sometimes the very beneficial and rigid structure that benefits some students can be detrimental to the performance of other students.
My aim is to provide a fun and interactive lesson, regardless of who I'm teaching. If you're worried about the writing section of a Cambridge B2 exam, or perhaps you're stressed about memorizing poetry from Yeats' work for the Leaving Cert, having a more relaxed and fun environment can take the pressure off considerably! I've been teaching in Italy for the last year, and adored every second of it. Since returning to Ireland, it's my goal to continue teaching in the fun, easy-going nature that I enjoyed while working abroad, and to help ease the anxiety and pressure of preparing for exams.

I'm a dedicated teacher with plenty of experience teaching Cambridge exam students and EFL students abroad. I also have experience tutoring Leaving Cert students for the English exam papers as well as proofreading undergraduate English and Sociology essays in college. I have a TEFL qualification, and my lessons will typically last about an hour.
From experience, the anxiety and stress involved in learning a language can often impact the outcome. As a result, I find it much more effective to have a fun, conversational lesson with students. A balance between me talking and the student talking is always my aim! My lessons are typically for students aged 16 and up, and having some knowledge of the English language would be preferable so we can work on improving together.
