About Roberts

I am an honours graduate student in Sociology and Psychology with 15 years of experience in research and co-ordination for the Film and Television industry. Throughout my education and professional experience, I have been both a private tutor and a university teaching assistant. I have a specific passion for the English language both spoken and written, and nothing makes me happier than sharing that knowledge with others.

About the lesson

Whatever your career goals may be, a firm grasp of the English language can be your first foot in the door to a world of opportunities. Our lessons together can help you to ensure that your foot is solidly planted on that doorstep. I offer private English tutoring for all skill levels including academic and professional as well as support in research and essay writing at all academic levels. My teaching methodologies vary depending on you as a student because everyone learns differently, and my job as a private tutor is to determine what works for YOU! The first priority for us as a team will be to asses your current skill level and draw up a plan for your curriculum including the goals you would like to reach. I believe that, in order for you to learn and retain anything, you must first be engaged with the material. It's not enough that you simply understand the material as we are going over it, but that you relate to it in a way that leaves a lasting impression on you so that you can recall the information for years to come and not just minutes after the lesson. We will work together to find material that interests you specifically and experiment with various learning methodologies to find out which of them entertain you and make it easy and fun for you to focus. The goal is to avoid making studying English or conducting research feel like "work" by making it something fun and rewarding to practice. A skill that eventually becomes second nature to you.
