About Jody
I completed my Trinity Certificate in TESOL in 2013, and was immediately employed as an English language teacher at the TLI English language school in Edinburgh. However, due to personal interest, I decided to travel to Mauritania where I continued teaching English on a private basis, alongside studying and memorising the Qur'an and becoming a proficient speaker of Arabic. I have previously worked as a freelance journalist for several years and had articles published for the Guardian, the Observer and the Independent among others, as well as serving as guest editor for two issues of the New Internationalist magazine. I have lived in Palestine, where I first developed a passion for the Arabic language, and in Venezuela, where I learnt Spanish.
