About Nicole

I am currently an undergraduate student at UCL studying Psychology with modules in Neuroscience and Biology. I am multilingual, having self-taught myself a lot of French after picking it up for GCSEs and A-levels, and am also studying Mandarin - I have a real love for languages and it gives me a lot of joy to share the feeling of confidence and kind of ‘linguistic expansion’.
I would call myself a creative and athletic individual, mainly drawing, painting, writing and playing piano.
I first realised that I genuinely enjoy tutoring as more than just a job when I was told I had an ability to convey complex concepts with real ease and fluidity.

About the lesson

I received all 9s for 13 GCSEs and A*A*A*A for A-levels in English Literature, French, Psychology and Mathematics

Lessons take place over Zoom and are typically an hour long but can be extended upon request. The first session is introductory so that you have an opportunity to explain what you would like to work on, or so that we can identify areas that need work together if you are unsure. I always ask students to send examples of their work, school resources or materials they use before each lesson so that I can prepare accordingly, and will also plan exercises for you to do in between sessions related to what we cover. These will be marked and addressed in the following session.

I believe it’s important to have semi-structured lessons, meaning that I will have a framework for the hour but if we identify an area that needs more time, or you feel you would like to work on something specific, we incorporate this - the session is yours, and you understand your own needs and pace the best. Results are achieved when these needs are met.

The lessons are of course interactive, I will explain concepts but there are working examples and exercises throughout.

I have been working as a teaching assistant in a number of schools and as a personal tutor for over 6 years, and being in the process of getting a Bachelor’s degree myself I find that it gives me much greater empathy and understanding towards other students, but does not at all diminish my knowledge or capacity to teach. In fact it means that I am up-to-date and highly familiar with the current curriculums, exam boards and exam requirements.

I typically teach students from Year 9 - Year 13, but also have significant experience with younger children and can teach adults
