About Tilly
I am an English Literature and Philosophy graduate from the University of Liverpool, currently working in the charity/ arts sector. I am passionate about teaching and discussing literature, and helping people improve their written communication and comprehension, no matter their abilities/ strengths. I have experience tutoring students from my time working as a peer mentor at university, and I volunteered for a charity and assisted in written communication lessons for people with learning disabilities last year! I am happy to take a strong lead in classes or be led by the interests of the students. I like to base classes around pieces of literature and classic writers (for example Fitzgerald, Brönte, Austen) who appear in the school curriculum, alongside more obscure or modern books that people won’t come across in schools. Using fantastic texts, we can start discussions about characterisation, language, and meaning, and set tasks that will help improve written communication, long-essay writing, and comprehension skills.
