About Katya
My name is Katya and I have recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in English Literature. From Shakespeare, to 21st Century Literature, I have had the opportunity to study an incredibly diverse range of texts. Last year I was employed as an Academic Mentor at an International School, where I helped my secondary students with their English coursework and exams. I taught my students how to revise independently and manage their time effectively. I encourage an appreciation for learning in and out of lesson-time, all the whilst trying to boost the self-confidence of each student. I enjoy working with students one-on-one, tackling targeted areas of difficulty with activities personalised to the student and at a pace they are comfortable with. I received an A* in my IGCSE English exam, an A* in my A-Level English exam, and a 1st in my final year exam on post-colonial writing at Cambridge. Having taught English Literature for over 3 years now, I feel I am in the right position to help my students understand the specific criteria that is expected from examiners.

I have the most experience helping GCSE, A-Level, IB and University students with the study of English Literature: developing their analytical skills, improving essay writing/structure, and deepening their understanding of historical/literary events and themes. Every lesson is tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Typically, a lesson will last around 1h, depending on how much ground needs to be covered. My priority is for my students to feel self-assured in both themselves and their studies. I love English Literature — it was my favourite subject at school (which is why I went on to study it at university) and I'm sure that we can work together to get you the best possible grade, and enjoy the process at the same time.
