About Abigail
I am a current student at the University of Sydney, studying Medicine. In a former life, I studied English Literature and History at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a distinction average. I have been tutoring English for a couple of years now, and love helping students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subject. I aim to make lessons enjoyable and engaging, rather than rigid and boring, which has really helped my students improve their skills and marks.

My lessons are geared towards skill building in English - how to interpret texts, and then how to build an essay or response around these interpretations that shows sophistication and flair. I also focus on exam skills in the context of English, and offer guidance to my students about how to approach texts and question when time is limited and the pressure is on. I try to make these sessions as enjoyable as possible, drawing on a variety of different texts - short stories, poetry, non-fiction as well as excerpts of longer texts - in order to build a solid foundation.
