About Ruth
I graduated from the university of Kent with a degree in English and American literature, with dissertations on Shakespeare and Henry James. I then went on to work in the publishing industry for 20+ years working for publishers such as Pearson Education and Macmillan, working across textbook and professional book publishing and magazine and online publishing. As a new mum, I am now looking to tutor to fit around those responsibilities.

My approach is consultative. I believe that children learn best when understanding is driven through questioning and relating concepts to the real world. Having tutored my 3 (very different to each other) step daughters, particularly in relation to Shakespeare, over the last few years - there are few challenges I haven’t faced - even managing to generate enthusiasm for Macbeth from a child who claimed she ‘just didn’t get it’!
