Maya is, without doubt, the most sublime and remarkable teacher. We found her quite late in my son’s GCSEs. He did not like English Literature, but after attentive, empowering, and inspiring lessons with this gentle, unassuming powerhouse of a teacher, he has come to love it.

After jumping up two grades in a short time, and against the odds, he went on to study English Literature at A Level. I asked my son what he thought of Maya, and his words were: “She is so sweet and cares not just about the subject but also about the students’ feelings.”

Maya has worked at my son’s school, and this lady goes above and beyond to nurture the gifts that lie within each student. That takes a special kind of person. My son chose English Lit for A Levels because he now loves poetry and analyses the spoken and written word critically and creatively, thanks to this lady’s passion for her subject and care for her students’ wellbeing and ultimate results.

I think she is admirably suited to this role. She uses a variety of techniques suited to digital teaching platforms. I find her very engaging, and as able to communicate effectively in an online session as if she were in the room with you.

Needless to say, I kept Maya on for the next two years throughout my son’s A Levels to continue to support, inspire, and empower him to be the best version of himself. I have seen his confidence grow and filter into other areas and aspects of his life. This lady is a gentle force of wonder!
