About Yonga
I am a final-year English student with a strong interest in teaching English and developing effective, learner-centered instructional practices. My academic training has provided me with a solid foundation in English language, literature, critical reading, writing, and communication skills, which are central to effective English teaching.
I am particularly interested in teaching English as a second or foreign language and focus on clear explanations, structured lessons, and adapting content to suit learners’ proficiency levels. My teaching approach emphasizes clarity, encouragement, and active learner participation. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident practicing their speaking, reading, and writing skills.
While my formal classroom teaching experience is still developing, I have gained relevant experience through academic peer support, collaborative learning, and informal tutoring contexts, where I assist others with comprehension, essay writing, grammar, and exam preparation. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas in accessible ways and to tailor instruction to individual needs.
I am currently completing my undergraduate degree in English, which has strengthened my subject expertise in language use, literary analysis, critical thinking, and academic writing. I am actively working toward building my professional teaching profile and plan to obtain a TEFL/TESOL certification to further enhance my pedagogical skills. My long-term goal is to teach English internationally, particularly in Hong Kong or Thailand, where I can continue developing as an educator while contributing positively to students’ language development.
