About Sky
I've been writing creatively, particularly poetry, since I fell in love with the craft in 8th grade. The first poem I wrote with the intention of learning "how a poem works" (as one might learn how an engine works) was a pantoum. If you're curious what that is, you've come to the right writer.
For 8 years now I've taught writing to people of all ages, from 2nd graders to adults. In this world where it is too easy to make one's living by dishonest means, it is an honor to teach people a way of life, a way of seeing things that is dear to my heart, one that I try to live every day I wake up.

I tailor my lessons to each student's learning style, goals, and pace. Together we'll strengthen your understanding of literary tropes and techniques, so that you can write your own poetry or fiction, get that A+ in your literature class, or have a deeper appreciation of the past's influence on our current culture.
In our first lesson, we'll get to know each other and work through a text together. Most lessons begin with a check-in on what we worked on last time, followed by an analysis of a new text or piece the student has written.
What sets me apart is my playful, patient attitude toward every student. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing lasting problem-solving skills.
My lessons are suitable for middle school, high school, and university students, as well as adult learners.
I particularly welcome adult learners, as I think we are capable of falling in love with the art of words at any age, and the experiences adults have had lend well to understanding what literature has to offer us.
