About Alex
I'm a history and political science graduate (magna cum laude) with a deep, ongoing love for history— I spend my free time working through Greek and Hebrew texts, writing on patristic theology, and digging into the kind of primary sources most people only encounter in translation. That academic curiosity isn't separate from how I teach; it's the whole reason I tutor.
I believe the best way to understand history is to sit with the actual texts — not summaries of them — and ask hard questions about what they mean and why they matter. I bring that same rigor to writing instruction: I don't just fix sentences, I help students build arguments that hold up.
Outside of tutoring, I work in project coordination and I'm currently pursuing further studies myself, so I know firsthand what it's like to juggle deadlines, prep for high-stakes tests, and still care about getting the work genuinely right — not just done. I try to bring that same patience and standard to every student I work with.

I use a Socratic, primary-source-first approach: rather than lecturing at students, I get them reading actual ancient texts (in translation or original language) and asking questions that pull out analysis rather than handing it to them. For writing, I work in a draft-feedback-revise loop — students write short, imperfect drafts fast, then we tighten thesis, evidence, and structure together rather than me rewriting their sentences for them.
