About Emily
Hello!
My name is Emily, I am an English Tutor and Actress - I find that the latter helps with the former a great deal. I am a confident, outgoing and enthusiastic person who loves seeing young people flourish.
Most recently I have worked as an English teacher and a Learning support assistant at an outstanding Liverpool school - having direct contact with the current English syllabus and a first hand understanding of what is expected of pupils.
As a Learning Support Assistant I worked one-to-one with KS3 and KS4 students who are struggling with their academic attainments for a variety of different reasons; from a special educational need to behavioural issues. The support I give the pupils aims to help them to grow in confidence of what they can achieve!
Moreover, I helped to run additional GCSE classes, meaning I am regularly exposed to past papers and mark schemes, allowing me to help my students write the best possible answers for higher level marks.
I have tutored students privately from the ages of 12-17 and have achieved positive and long lasting results.
I am passionate that so many of the issues young people face in school are confidence related - therefore I aim to make all tutoring sessions enjoyable as well as productive. I use a variety of resources, and can adapt to fit the needs of my tutees, whether this be more visual methods for younger children, or timed essay practice for GCSE and A Level students.
I am happy to work to certain specifications that you may have such as: Having reading aloud time; Monitoring progress with intermittent testing; Helping with other homework etc.
