About Cindy
I've taught students in theater for 14 years and been an English tutor for 2 years. I'm a playwright and have written 7 plays. In high school I had a teacher who inspired me to write creatively and in college one of my essays was chosen to go on the Website to show how proper creative and factual writing can work well together. I've also taught many different writing techniques. One of my students came to me because she was having spelling issues and is now in 4th grade. I was able to help her find out why she was having trouble (vowel digraphs) and correct the problem. She has now become a much better writer because she is more confident in her spelling and learning to open their imagination.

I've worked mostly with students in Grades 1 through 8. I ask that the student (or parent) explain to me what brings them to me. From there I will have them do a few reading and writing examples. Then I will look at their level of learning and we'll take steps to get them great grades! We would likely work on writing, something I have a lot of experience with. We'd work together to come up with ideas that make them ready to use their imagination. If spelling or reading were a problem, we would also work on those. I'm very easygoing and always listen to the student when they have ideas. I do sometimes ask the student to take home a writing assignment and bring it back in a few days. My goal is to make learning fun so that children think of English as an awesome thing!
