About Andrea
I have given classroom English lessons in school, and private tuition over the last 15 years for children at Key stage 2 level. After assessing your child's stage of learning, I will prepare a learning plan, which is then used to form the structure of each lesson. At the beginning of the lesson, I discuss the learning objectives with the child. Reading and spelling provide an important base; I then follow with a reading comprehension piece, or grammar section. To develop your child's writing skills, I encourage writing in different genres for example, persuasive, informative and descriptive styles. Speaking and listening is also an important part of the English curriculum at school, so during the lesson, some discussion of thoughts and ideas are encouraged. All of these skills that your child practices, are essential to making great progress. At the end of each lesson I review what has been achieved. This will be followed up by a short written report, where any areas of progress and suggestions for further improvement will be mentioned. I usually give homework, as this provides further practice for your child, and consolidation of his/her learning.
