About Irine
I am a qualified English and Malay teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Honours) TESL. I have 3 years of experience teaching students from lower primary to lower secondary. Currently, I specialize in online 1-on-1 home tutoring, focusing especially on helping students bridge the gap and build confidence when moving from primary to secondary school (Year 5 to Form 1).
My teaching approach is all about building a calm, focused, and comfortable relationship with each student behind the screen. I don't use complicated, high-tech tools. Instead, I focus on understanding my student's emotional needs and adjusting my lessons to their exact speed so they can build real confidence.

My lessons are straightforward and designed to work perfectly in a simple online 1-on-1 setting. I take my physical lesson materials, scan them into PDF pages, and use Google Docs during class so my student and I can read, write, and interact together easily.
Even with a simple setup, my lessons cover all the essential language skills:
1. Integrated Skills: We don't just focus on writing; a single lesson naturally includes reading, listening, and speaking practice through conversation.
2. Three Levels of Help: I adjust the tasks on Google Docs depending on what the student needs that day:
a) Support Level: If they are struggling, I give them ready-made sentence starters and read along with them.
b) Core Level: If they are on track, they practice writing short, structured paragraphs independently.
c) Extension Level: If they need a challenge, I push them to use richer vocabulary, describe deeper emotions, and add creative twists.
3. Real-Time Adjustments: Because it is 1-on-1, I watch how they respond in real time. If I notice they are stuck or making a common mistake, I can instantly change my examples, model the answers on the spot, or give them more guided help.
