About Ruby
I am a Second Year German and Czech student at Oxford University. I am passionate about languages but also understand that at schools they are often taught in such large groups and the lessons are so infrequent that it can be difficult to make progress. I truly believe that learning a language can be fulfilling to everyone. It is not just about perfecting grammar - although I am certainly happy to help with that - but also about learning the culture and confidence to express yourself.

Over my last two years of tutoring, I have found that one of the best ways of engaging students in the study of Modern Languages is through tailoring material to their interests. I use magazine articles and videos on an area of the student's interest to practise pronunciation and listening skills. This is then used as a basis for a conversation in the language. I also find traditional exam revision techniques useful, such as past papers and mock exams but more as supplementary support leading up to exams. I really enjoy helping students achieve their goals and hope I can be of help!
