About Jose

I am José, I come from Valencia, a nice city of Spain. I am currently living in London where I have been now for six years and I have been working here as a Spanish teacher. I enjoy tutoring students and helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially. I am a friendly and outgoing person, love teaching and speak with a standard Spanish accent.

Due to my experience teaching Spanish for the last five years, I have been able to gain experience with all levels and ages.

My Spanish lessons are fun, dynamic and can be organised in 3 ways:

- We can have an informal conversation which will allow you to start thinking in your target language and quickly boost your confidence. I love teaching informal Spanish, using various topics or roles-plays in order to help my students to improve their real-life Spanish skills. Also, we can use a variety of articles to practise pronunciation, comprehension, learn new expressions, or focus on discussion.

- I can build a lesson plan, based on grammar and focus on speaking, writing and reading.

- I also have experience preparing students for exams, particularly with Spanish GCSE and DELE, focus on the four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. This is, in fact, one of my favourite courses to teach. If you want a serious course that will cover everything you need to know about the exam, including key vocabulary topics and task strategies.

I have more than 5 years experience in teaching Spanish. I would like to continue to develop my teaching skills while creating a challenging and fun learning environment for my students. I have given lessons as a teacher assistant in a Spanish class in Valencia (Spain) for 1 year and 4 months in the 12 to 17 years range. I have also worked in schools in Years 8-11 in London. I have been teaching Spanish in London since 2015.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. University Cardenal Herrera CEU (Valencia).
- Master's Degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies: Applications and Research. University of Valencia.
- Graduate Certificate in Spanish Language Teaching to Adults and Grammar course for ELE teachers. The Cervantes Institute (London).

Over the last five years, I have developed a deep understanding of pedagogy and teacher training practices in order to help my students reach their maximum potential, which has been a truly rewarding experience.

Outside of school hours, I enjoy tutoring students and helping them to build their confidence to achieve their goals, both academically and socially. I also have a good knowledge of GCSE, AS, A-Level examinations and I am familiar with the National Curriculum.

I use a selection of excellent teaching materials, but am happy to use your own textbooks when required.
