About Claire
I am an enthusiastic teacher with fourteen years’ experience of working in primary education. I am currently working as a private tutor, tutoring children aged between 5 -11 years old in Maths and English. I enjoy tutoring immensely and have enjoyed using my teaching skills to build children’s confidence and to identify and address any gaps they have. My tutees have all made significant progress. I am also a supply teacher, teaching across all year groups. Before this, I spent eleven years working at a junior school and have experience of teaching Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. My teaching has consistently been graded as Good with elements of Outstanding. My calm and gentle teaching style quickly puts pupils at ease and creates a safe space that encourages a challenging and effective teaching environment.

I have been tutoring for five years and during that time have taught children with a range of abilities. I am familiar with the Year 6 curriculum as most of my tutees are in Year 5 or 6. I have also prepared children for the 11 + tests and Independent School Entrance Exams. Although children take these tests at the beginning of Year 6, they need to have covered all of the Year 6 curriculum. All my tutees make excellent progress and I often stay with a family for many years, going on to teach younger siblings. Due to the Covid 19 situation I have successfully moved all my lessons online using the Zoom platform.
